They provided the soundtrack to the lives of a whole generation, with their brand of summery Californian rock. But, like so many bands before them and since, ego threatened to cut short their incredibly successful musical journey (the band acrimoniously split in 1980 and reformed 14 years later). In 2004, The Eagles brought their Farewell 1 Tour to Melbourne, Australia, where they performed hit after greatest hit to sold-out crowds. Backed by an eight-piece band, they gave renditions of 'Hotel California', 'Take It To The Limit', 'Desperado', and 'New Kid In Town', as well as newer material.
