Henricus - Edition Deutsche Klassik GmbH UEber den Autor: 1875 als Sohn eines Richters in Reims in wohlhabende burgerliche Verhaltnisse hineingeboren, bricht Maurice Renard sein juristisches Studium nach wenigen Semestern ab und widmet sich ganz der Schriftstellerei. Stark beeinflusst von Edgar Allan Poe und H. G. Wells macht Renard deutliche Anleihen im Genre des Schauerromans und nimmt eine Vorreiterstellung im Goldenen Zeitalter der franzoesischen Science-Fiction-Literatur ein. Er stirbt 1939 auf der Atlantikinsel Oleron.
