Quick shipping and exactly as picture. Unfortunately the description said it was black. I actually wanted black. I guess I will have to see if I can paint it.but it was in good shape and packaged well with a fair price

  • Helps some but don't expect miracles

Bottom line - some improvement, but at a price. This is based on my limited usage so far. It seemed like the ideal area to filter out mercury vapor or sodium lights and enhance contrast in my search for faint deep-space objects (dso's). For the most part, the filter makes things a bit darker and so far has not made these easier to see. I was able to see a member of the Veil Nebula, NGC 6995, with the filter that I had tried multiple times to see, unsuccessfully, without the filter with my 4" telescope . I'm looking forward to trying out the filter in darker skies. Form my reading on this filter, it may be more useful if you are using it for ...

  • OIII filter

This is a specific filter that you should use to filter out the light in the earth's ozone, in order to be able to see the nebulas more clearly. Upsides: increases nebula's image sharpness, downside: reduces the amount of light you can see, and it's suitable for 8" scopes and higher. Make sure your scope is colimated before using it.

  • Works

Unfortunately the clarity of most filters are over rated and this is quite expensive too.
