Broderick Crawford stands out in this fine drama about the rise and fall of a corrupt southern governor who promises his way to power. Crawford portrays Willie Stark, who, once he is elected, finds that his vanity and power lust prove to be his downfall. The film is based on the 1946 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Robert Penn Warren, which in turn was based largely on the story of Louisiana legend Huey Long. A must See Movie: You will never forget!
This Movie has been on TV in the past! It depicts how one individual can persuade everyone around Him to think His way is the right and only true way, and everyone follows Him! Does that sound like anyone we know? This film, if I remember correctly, is from back in the 1950's error in B&W. Makes you ask yourself the question: How can one man make so many people blindly follow someone with no thought at all where they are going or what chaos it would entail.
