One of the best books re. WW 1
This is one of the great books about World War 1. It is beautifully and compellingly written. It's long too, but well worth it, Clark does the best explication of complex Balkan politics leading up to the war that i have read anywhere. Also, hardcover copies listed on Amazon were prohibitively expensive, so i was very glad to find a copy here on e-bay at a reasonable--very reasonable--price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

World War I as accident.
A super-detailed review of events and personalities that led to World War I, arguing in effect that it didn't have to happen. Spreads blame around rather fairly but minimizes the massive geopolitical shift that German unification had brought about in the 19th century.
