  • Darn good ratchet that needed TLC

Delivery was on time and prompt. Service was great. The reason why I only gave this 4 stars, is the ratchet mechanism was gummed up. It was sticky after taking it apart and doing a clean. I noticed that there was wear and tear on the pawl and gear after cleaning. I ordered a rebuild kit. Note if you are going to rebuild this ratchet, the internals are compatible with the Matco 88 tooth or Gearwrench 84 tooth rebuild kit. When you lube it use a light oil and a couple of dabs of super lube. Once the rebuild kit was installed it's an awesome ratchet. It makes a great addition to your tool bag. Considering Matco ratchets are very expensive this ratchet is an excellent alternative. It's USA made and it's fine tooth. The only unfortunate side to this is Armstrong is no longer in business. If you warranty this ratchet they'll send you a Gearwrench. It's highly recommended that you order a rebuild kit preferably a Matco 88 tooth when you purchase this ratchet. It's not a difficult thing to do. I used this ratchet at work for a project it performs exceptionally well.
