This is a powerful light weight cordless drill. I have used the BHP452 while working in commercial plumbing; new houses, office buildings and remodels.I have also used this drill for deck building and basement remodels. I have used it all day long fastening screws in deck planks and plywood. I have used it all day long mixing concrete with a paddle. I have yet to be unhappy with it. Love this drill and the beefier models and never regret spending the money. The contractor I work for has all Dewalt cordless tools. I find him grabbing my Makita drills more and more on the job-site. The Makita drills are powerful, lightweight and are tough. The light is a nice feature when you are working in dark spaces. The only thing I am not thrilled with on the BHP452 is the double dial ie, the number/speed change dial and the performance output dial, both right next to each other to where you can be rotating them at different directions. Other than that, a super nice drill. I do wish Makita would put a 3 speed back out there.Read full review
I purchased this drill by accident and I'm glad I did. Besides being less expensive, this drill is smaller and lighter than the 3 speed 1/2" model which makes it easier to use and better for getting into tight places. Power is good and settings and controls work as good (maybe better) as its larger brother. It still has a 1/2" chuck but only 2 speeds. Its great having options when it comes to tools.
Price is much more better then in Europe and Makita stuff quality is proverbial :-) I bought one for me about one year ago, and my father was so much impressed that I said him "okay Dad I'll order another one for you and will handle the charger modification for 22OV" he said "Cool ! my friend would like to order one also" so I purchased 2 unit + a reciprocating saw and a circular saw. No these are really great tools.
This drill is a replacement for the same model that I wore out. It works just like the one I had did when it was new. Good quality, easy to use, easy to carry.

I've owned alot of cordless tools in my life, and have replaced them all. A while back Makita got lazy and lost my business to Bosch, however I used a lithium ion drill on a job, and was very impressed with it, so I bought one and am very impressed with it also. Power, quick charge, and even light in weight. I guess we'll see over the long haul but as of now it rocks. Geoff in Colorado
