Equally entertaining for adults and children alike

The musical Cats is based on the poems in T.S. Elliot's Old Possum's Book of practical cats. The poems are sweet, highly entertaining. The book is a must for every household which loves cats, would make an unique gift for adults and children alike, and is ideal for night time story reading.

  • Old Possum knows his cats!!

I bought this book because my husband was reading a "Cat Who . . ." book by Lillian Jackson Braun, and 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' was mentioned in that book. As he was reading the book, my husband said that he would like to have Old Possum's book just to see what it is about. I got the book for him for Valentine's Day, and he started reading it that night. He has read every poem to me except for two, and I have read those two to him. Once we finished all the poems, we started reading them over again. We both love this wonderful little book because it is about cats and because it expresses their various characters to perfection. The poems are funny and thought-provoking -- and remind us of felines that we have known. There is nothing that we do not like about this book ...

  • Spreading Smiles

Like most of us, I was exposed to poetry in school, but was not strongly drawn to it. I like Eliot's book a lot; realistic, funny, entertaining poems about all kinds of cats. jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj Anyone who has ever loved or lived with a cat can feel the personalities and recall the memories of pets and feline neighborhood dwellers. After seeing the musical "Cats!", I bought my first book of Elliots poems on cats. Saw the musical again and enjoyed it more, being familiar with all the lyrics. I have purchased over 30 editions of this book over the years to give to family, friends and cat lovers and will continue to give smiles to children and adults with this book. I sometimes follow up the book with tickets to"Cats!". Such fun it brings!
