Tried it out on a crimp sleeve and it did the job. Not used it in anger yet but it would appear to be OK for odd round the house jobs (which is what it was bought for). For everyday shrinking - Use a heat gun.

Bought as tired of looking for spare 110v outlet on site, everything else I have is on batteries. I've tried this on various sizes of heat shrink down to 4mm. It will work but you have to hold it less than 5mm from the heat shrink and it still takes approximately a minute to shrink only a couple of inches. It's very easy to melt the heat shrink or outer sheath of cable as you're so close.

this would be better if it had it's own gas tank, rather than using a refillable lighter, it's perfect for my requirements

Great for occasional use but takes longer than my electric heat gun which I would prefer to use if I had a lot to heat shrink to do. Its now permanently in my toolbox and has got me out of trouble a few times now.

I have two of these one in work one at home ,the first being so old the decals have worn off! but it's still going strong. Easily refilled with lighter fuel from a can. Lights instantly with inbuilt piezo for an intense but flameless heat,The only downside is that the metal shroud gets very warm and you can easily burn yourself. It will sit upright on flat surface but I wish they'd made the base bigger.
