Great reel for the money. I cleaned all the factory oil and grease out of the reel and lubed it myself and wow what a difference. I than bought a bearing for the line roller from a ebayer for approximately $10 and it now feels and fishes like a $300 plus reel

Recently purchased this reel and was also considering a Stradic Ci4 as i already one one and have been very happy with it. The Daiwa is much smoother, drag feels nicer (I have not had it really tested yet, though) and it was significantly cheaper than the Shimano. Very impressed with this reel. Another point to add - casting distance is largely the same as the Stradic.

I have the 2500 EX model and the drag is one of the best I have seen. It is smooth and can go up to 15.4 lbs. Yet the reel is light. I can cast a mile and I never get tangles. This is my favorite reel so far for inshore fishing reds and specks.

I fish Daiwa exclusively but am still always impressed with their engineering and products. This reel handles everything from bass to bull reds. Incredible drag! Actually, the best in the market. And Daiwa's MagSeal technology keeps your reel corrosion-free for years of trouble-free use.

Quality you would expect from Diawa. Already owned own a procyon so I knew what I could expect. Reel cast great and is smooth as silk. It is a tad heavier than the Pfluger patriarch it replaces but the smoothness makes it worth it. Buy one you won't be disappointed!
