Note: I've recently built several versions of Dragon's 1/72 scale M4 Sherman tanks, and I've been quite impressed by all of them. Much of what I have to say in a review of one of these kits could easily be applied to the others, so my intention here is to write one review that could be used for all of the kits I've done. If anyone reads more than one of my reviews and wonders why I'm saying so much of the same thing in all of them, that's why! Let me begin by saying something I’ve said before in these reviews: I love, love, love Dragon models! Always have, probably always will. Over the last couple of years or so I've especially come to appreciate their series of World War II armor and vehicles in 1/72 scale; I've never yet been disappointed with anything of Dragon's that I've bought, and these Sherman tanks are certainly no exception. The first thing one must remember about these models is that these are not really toys meant to be played with by very young children. They feature many very small, delicate parts that are easily broken off and lost if they aren't handled carefully, but that is also one of the main reasons why these Dragon kits are so great. It really is amazing just how much fine detail this company can put into a tank model that is less than six inches long when fully assembled. It is for that reason also that I'll say that patience is a huge virtue when approaching one of these kits. One definitely can't be in a big hurry to get one of these models finished, but if one is willing to put in the necessary time and painstaking work, it is well worth the effort. Constructing one of these models requires a great deal of patience and care; in some cases the parts are so tiny and delicate that even removing them from the sprue (the plastic trees the parts come attached to) can damage or even break them if one isn't careful. Certainly I've had to learn the hard way how true this is, but I can also tell you that it isn't impossible, it just requires a light touch. However, my saying these things should in no way dissuade anyone from trying their hand at one of these excellent kits if they are so inclined. Based on my own experience with these kits, the one trouble spot I ran into was with the tracks. These come in the form of flexible plastic tracks; my personal preference is for hard plastic tracks with individual links, but having said that, I have never had a bad experience with Dragon's flexible band tracks, which are not difficult to work with and will take super glue easily. The real trouble I encountered with the tracks was that on test-fitting, they came up just a little bit too short, but I soon found that they can be stretched to the necessary length, but again one must be careful doing this—these tracks will break if stretched too far or too briskly, and if they do break, that can be a real problem. All in all, these Dragon M4 Shermans are incredibly good little models of one of the most famous tanks in history, and anyone who enjoys building small-scale WWII armor should give these little guys a real serious look.Read full review

I’ve been a big fan of dragon for a few years now, I really like the excellent detail especially for the 72 scale armor. However when buying this, I kinda knew what to expect, it’s an older dragon kit, and old dragon kits have notoriously bad fitting. This one wasn’t too bad however. I don’t really recommend this for new or inexperienced modelers, (as it requires quite a bit of filling and part modification)but if you do know what your doing, this is a good kit for you.

Good model of the M4A1. Detail looks good. Several options for building the various modifications. I like the 1 piece tracks. Decals look good and give several options. I would recommend this kit to those interested in the 1/72 scale M4 Sherman

Probably one of the finer Sherman kits in this scale. Although small it is packed with great detail. There are even light guards for the headlights and rear lights. The Trumpeter kits do not have that. The cast hull is another gem. The only gripe is the DS tracks. They go together well but as time goes on they tend to lose their adhesion qualities when using model liquid glue. The end result will have to be very thin thread. I would recommend this to anyone who loves this scale. A 4.8 on the neat and cool scale.

This was a great model. However the tracks are incredibly tight and it broke the rear wheels off the model. So I spent 23$ for nothing. Be careful when putting on the tracks.
