Flink basically takes just about every good idea from the past decade of platformers and somehow manages to mold it all into one solid title. You'll run, climb vines, jump from moving platforms, ride a rail car, and even take on the traditional end level boss in this game. Flink is not much on originality, but it's hard to complain when it borrows most of the best platforming ideas we've seen over the past 15 years. The graphics in the game are outstanding, and easily some of the best to come out of the 16-bit era. The Sega CD version has a much better soundtrack and a nice little opening cinema, but other than that, it's pretty much the same as the Genesis cartridge version. If you can appreciate a solid platformer and don't mind a high degree of difficulty, Flink is the game for you. If you like late 80's/early 90's European/Amiga platform games (such as Zool, or James Pond), then this title is a keeper for you. Graphically this game is pretty nice looking, much more so than others that I've seen of this type. In fact the graphics were more in line with games like Gex on the 3DO and Rayman on the Jaguar. The one unique feature that makes this game different though is the RPG type element of collecting spell components to make up spells which you can use to solve puzzles or explore additional areas of levels. Overall, the game is pretty good and if you can find it cheap enough, you should give it a try. Also, if you liked Lomax on the PlayStation, then you should definitely check this one out since Lomax is very much like Flink... so much so that I initially thought Lomax was a sequelRead full review
