I ended up getting this one in a pinch after the Onkyo I bought three months earlier died (don't ask for a review of that one!) So far, the Yamaha has been very impressive overall. The remote is perhaps the most complicated I've ever seen, but if you have the manual, you should be alright. (NOTE: I would NOT recommend picking one up that does not include the remote, otherwise you'll miss out on a lot of features.) It connects to just about everything you can imagine, although I needed an adapter for my LG "smart tv." I'm still working through all the pre-programmed audio settings, which provides a vibrant variety of sound ambiance. My only criticism (this is my first Yamaha) is a lack of powerful bass response. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a bassist, but I expect my Cerwin-Vega main speakers to rattle the house foundations when I crank it up. Honestly, I'm sure most people will find the bass response adequate, and I'm anxious to attach a subwoofer (two different inputs!) Knock on wood (especially after the Onkyo's untimely death), but the Yamaha appears to be built like a tank; even after all these years all lights and buttons work. Bottom line: if you can get a decent deal on one, go for it!Read full review
