Warren Zevon has been an incredible musician throughout his career despite garnering fewer fans than many of his contemporaries and little fame other than for Werewolves of London. His genius has not gone unnoticed by others in the musical business though. Many famous and critically lauded musicians have stood in on his albums because he is such a wonderful song writer with wit and talent for miles. The Wind is no exception. It is a strong effort all the way through and shows no sign of his impending death slowing him down or altering his keen humor. His take on Knocking on Heavens Door is especially haunting and other songs poino toward his acceptance of his weakening state. But this is classic Zevon and stands up to any of his previous work. With guest backup vocalists including Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, the songs never suffer from his illness. I bought it because it has some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I still listen to it regularly because it is and inspiration. Far from a requiem, it was a celebration of life. Everyone should own this album. I have over a thousand albums and this remains one of my favorites.Read full review

Great exit album from a tried and true artist. Much advanced and matured from Warewolves of London and earlier works of art. I only wish he would have had more time to explore new themes and reflect on a lifetime of performining opportunities. He was an artsist who grew and bloomed on more than one occassion and on numerous albums. In the greater scheme of artists his imprint will be rememberred for many years to come. Life is short and fame is fleeting but contribution to our library of music for the ages is a legacy we can all celebrate. Well done Warren ! Michael

The Wind is Warren Zevon's last album. For 30 years he had written songs about death. At the end, when he knew he was dying, he put this together. He had help from Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springstein and others. The poetry, melodies, musicianship and production make this so bluesy you may cry.

Warren Zevon is a terrific writer and good singer. There are some upbeat songs and some sad songs on this disc. A uniquely talented artist that we lost to soon.
