This is a perfect fit into the model I had, an exact replacement. Unfortunately for me, it didn't fix my problem, but no complaint about this item. Bissell makes a lot of good vacuums and floor cleaners and steamers. My only complaint is that the plastic parts are held together with a minimum of screws, and the places where the screws are located frequently break and crack. For vacuums that are very heavy, and carpet cleaners that have to be lifted and set down, this makes for shorter lifespans for them. The model I bought this for was nearly $250 dollars on sale, and we were only able to use it about 3 times before it stopped working. A shroud inside around the vacuum motor had broken, and try as I might, I could never get it to seal enough for the vacuum to work properly again. The loss of suction also caused the spraying system to stop working. Without proper vacuum, this pump cannot produce enough flow to spray detergent onto the carpeting. Read full review

When I first diagnosed the pump needed to be replaced in my Bissel rug cleaner I thought the pump would be prohibitively expensive to buy a replacement. I found this direct replacement and it was very reasonably priced. It is a direct replacement; I didn't find anything different from the original pump. It worked perfectly. Don't hesitate to use this pump to replace your weak one.

Actually, there is no apparent way to check the function of the pump other than in the unit. I think my old pump was probably ok, but the only way to check it was to replace it. There was something else at fault. It certainly is a good pump. I just wish you could check it's function. I put a drill on it and couldn't get either the old one or the new one to pump water outside of the shampooer.
