Generically bagged, but working with it I have no reason to believe it isn’t Kester as advertised. Nice to have the non-4000 ft lengths for my amount of hobby use. Nicely packed and quickly shipped! Great seller!

Kester 44 60/40 rosin core solder - the standard for electrical wiring.

Kester 44 60/40 rosin core solder - it's the standard solder for electrical wiring. This solder in the .050" diameter is perfect for soldering work on guitars and guitar amplifiers. It flows real well and the flux core helps to "wet" the pieces you are soldering. The flux isn't corrosive, but if you want to clean it off of the workpiece, a little bit of alcohol will dissolve it. Good stuff!

  • Great product, unfortunately i bought the wrong size

Nothing wrong with the product itself, great solder. (it has the good quality solder smell) however i got the thick 1.27mm diameter size while i thought i was buying the regular thin one. note to seller: If you sell on ebay please remember that not all your buyers live in the US please, some of us actually live outside the US. to have .050 in your title can be an unfamiliar notation to many of us.. Again, great product.

  • Kester 44--still the best available!

Kester 44 is still the best solder around, in my opinion. The 44 rosin-core flux is very effective, and the 60/40 mix is the ideal combination for low melting point, excellent strength, and a bright finish that's easy to inspect. I guess I'm old school, because I avoid all the water soluble fluxes and the lead-free mixtures that invite tin-whisker growth and have a dull, difficult-to-inspect, mottled look. Good soldering is difficult enough without handicapping yourself with difficult to use materials. Also, I try to avoid the small-diameter sizes; the flux tends to be less uniformly distributed in anything smaller than 0.031 inch. This spool was 0.050 diameter which is great for transistors, DIPs, and most leaded components, as well as solid and stranded hookup wire.

  • Much better than other cheaper brands of solder. It's true, you get what you pay for.

Solder flows very easily with good bonding of wire connections on copper wiring.

  • Just buy Kester 44!

I was flying a TV repair bench when I was 14 years old. I know what works. I have spent a lot of time and money trying out new solders, bargain solders, and even tried to go "Lead Free" or "No Clean" for a while. Nothing worked for me except Kester 44. Nothing. It wets really well, doesn't "Frost" (turn grey or oxidize), and I don't find it cracking at the base of the joint later. It doesn't gobble up my tips, and it smells good. It smells like somebody in the room knows what they are doing! The project I needed good solder for is a 1944 Navy ground based battery (24v) powered AM/CW receiver. 200KC to 2000KC. Way up into the Megacycle range... It needs some care, a bunch of caps, a High Voltage Power Supply, and one more thing... It has an acceptance stamp of 12/8/44, but the ...
