I own two ICF-SW10s because this is one of the better examples of a true full-analog shortwave portable radio. Made in Japan, the ICF-SW10, has a quality feel to it. For example, the band selector has a fluidity of movement that you don't always see in newer radios like this. The volume control doesn't feel loose and wiggle around. You have to remember, these were something like $89.95 when they were new close to 30 years ago, so you're getting something where some effort was put into making it feel like it's worth the money. Reception is quite good for a radio of this size and type, especially on shortwave, where I often find that the ICF-SW10 will provide cleaner audio on weak signals than some newer digital portable radios, which tend to introduce extra noise. AM and FM are both above average in terms of sensitivity. The ICF-SW10 will provide stereo audio on FM through earbuds/headphones. Powered by two AA batteries that seem to last forever, mine occasionally plays all night if I fall asleep with it on, and the batteries still last for weeks. This is an excellent all-around radio to have on hand for everyday use as well as being a collectible 1990s radio. Read full review
