I enjoyed using my C5400 since I bought it. C5400 is a faster one but functionally the same as the C5200. My purchased was based on the great rating on PC World magazine when it first came on the market. The color printout seems the best at that time. I also wanted to have a duplex feature and Oki has the add-on. At that time the Okidata with a duplexer cost me over $1,200 which is very expensivie by today's prices. It seemed better than HP Color Laser option in its output quality. I have only replaced the black toner once so I consider this unit very lightly used. This month the printer died. When I turned on the switch, I got no power what-so-ever on LCD, LED and mechanical noises. Being very technical, I even found that the power module was made by Tamura. As I saw that the power module does not even provide the fan power when the switch is on. Therefore my simple conclusion is that I must buy a service part (42501101YB by Tamura) to replace it. As nice as the Okidata has its web site, Oki part is hard to find. Okidata itself does not sell this type of serice part. They only sell stuff like toners and drums. They channeled me to service centers. I guess I can buy the part there somehow but I was hoping that I I could solve this through Okidata own part service online. I am disappointed that I can't get the part from Okidata or any web site. In summary, even though I am having the problem, I have to honest that the Oki color laser printer is very good (when it works.) I have rarely seen the printer jam. The whole unit is very well built. I enjoy the duplex option too. The printer also has many hidden features like ftp server, email notification, extra memory add on slot, even harddrive. These internal features are almost like those big network printers in a company. Still, those features may be over killed for most people. One thing I don't like is the warmup process being very noisy. This noise happens when you switch it on or when you send a job to it as the printer would wake up from its power-saving sleep mode. Sometimes I tried not to print in order to avoid waking up family members at night time. I also don't like the fact that Okidata change the design so that if I buy a new Okidata I cannot use the duplexer I bought extra. The duplexer is several hundred dollars alone! In short, it may cost me a lot to fix so I may ended up just buying another laser, the Oki may not keep me then. - TonyRead full review
I absolutely love the Oki 3500. The quality is superb, the speed is unbelievable, and the price is wonderful! It is the best of all worlds. It does great when I have to print huge volumes of black text, yet it still comes through with unprecedented quality when I want to print colorful charts and graphs for work. I am always asked if I went to Kinkos or Staples and I proudly say that the only place I went to was my home office! The wife and I also love printing colorful pictures of our children for the family. They look great and come at a price that we can easily afford. When it is time to refill the 3 color drums and 1 black drum (which we have only done once in two years), we may spend just under $100 at most at any retail electronics store. I have also never had a paper jam with this printer! Something that you all know can be a very frustrating experience. I hope this review helps you as you decide whether or not to entrust your printing needs to Oki. I know we have; and we've never regretted it!Read full review
I bought the OKI C5200N because it is a printer we are goning to use very little yes other color printers are less expensive but they use liquid ink which drys up before you can use it also liqued ink is very expensive and you don't get very much in a refill. With the powder ink it will last for ever. I bought Oki because of ratings, speed, and the ink was less expensive for refills than other brands. We set it up and ran a test page which looked great but as I said we may only use it two or three times a year. Two make Birthday cards or Christmas anouncements for family partys and so on. The one I got only had a USB port which means you must have a newer computer to hook it up to luckly we had just bought a new computer.
This printer performs excellently. I have no complaints so far. It spits out about 30 ppm, the print is spectacular, even at lowest quality: Draft with "Toner Saving" option. We're a media and do our own in-house media kit, including trifolds, using hi-quality HP Trifold paper, and this printer makes us proud when presenting kits to clients. We own 6 of these printers, one of them with the duplex option, even sweeter!
Set up was quick and easy. Prints fast! Color is pretty good, but will never take the place of my Epson R1800 inkjet. Images came out really good on the OKIdata laser paper. One thing I really appreciate is the techs at OKIdata are very helpful.
