I've been on an outing with this lens twice, concluding with good shots. I am still adjusting to using film, having shot in digital all my life. This lens is a good weight, and wasn't a problem with the fitting onto the camera body.
Cheap lens but beware No focus ring. Works only with Autofocus. Needs lots of light. Slow autofocus. Amateur lens
This is a super lens for portraits and landscapes or just for general use. Also good for taking pictures of cityscapes in built up areas. It's light and easy to use either in manual or AF. i bought the lens to add to a collection of lenses to fill the gap between a 18-55mm and 70-300mm. I like this product because of the quality and ease of use. Not sure how it compares to other AF lenses as this is my first AF camera after using 35mm film for about 25 years and decide to take the plunge with a Canon. I know that there are other third party manufactures who make brilliant lenses, but i wanted to start with Canon products first before trying them.
Seems okay, I'm still getting use to it but it seems to make the camera operate a bit slow sometimes - I think it needs a lot of light (bright sunny day) since it only has a small aperture range. Its kind of what I expected for the price though.
The reason I purchased this lens is the good range it covers from fairly wide angle to short telephoto, the picture quality is excellent, quick precise focus, light weight ,which makes it easy to carry around.I would gladly recommend this lens.
