This CPU is the best I have ever owned. I own a i7-7700HQ, i3-3220, AMD FX-6300, Ryzen 7 1700 and I must say that my i7-8700k is the fastest! Overclocking this CPU was also really easy, just went into the bios and set the multiplier to 5.00 Ghz, left everything else to default besides overclocking the ram. I ran AIDA64 stress-test for about 2 hours, my vcore never exceeded 1.238v and temps topped out at around 82c using my AIO. I don't know if I got a golden chip and won the silicon lottery but my voltages for a 5ghz overclock isn't exceeding 1.238v and I couldn't be happier! Games run a lot faster, programs that utilize just a single core are also a lot faster on this CPU. I'm not dogging my other CPU's and I am also still waiting for the Ryzen 3000 series to come out but thus far, Ryzen needs to push their limits on IPC and single core performance.Read full review

Many years after it's release, and it's still a keeper. Clocks high and runs great for midrange 1080p gaming systems, and keeps up great with multitasking. While it will bottleneck you in 1080p on a modern midrange machine, it's a solid choice for 4k gaming and multitasking.

Its been a while now and this CPU has shown massive speed and reliability with my build. Its more than I will need for a very long time. The multitasking on this CPU is very impressive. I ran a youtube video, Rise of the Tomb Raider , Life is Strange and some other tasks and I didnt get any lag.

When building a new Computer for Gaming and Photo editing, I looked at all reviews out there . This 8700K beat them all in the speed reviews, Installed in a ASUS TUF Z370 Pro Gaming mother board using factory settings it clocked up to 5000 MHz reliably. Could not be happier.

A quality motherboard from ASUS that performs well and provides a solid platform for the paired i8700k processor. The i7 8700k processor need no introduction. It is well known as being THE fastest Gamers processor available today. The TUF370 provides for easy overclocking, on board sound and video if you require them. SATA 6k, USB 3 and updated BIOS support with easy flashing via Asus EZ flash. The only downside for me was that there is no RGB header on the motherboard. Just a small point, but one to consider if you plan to get involved in the whole RGB thing. Not worth docking a star for, so 5 stars it deserves. Over all, I am very well pleased with this combination!

I was a die hard AMD guy until hearing all the bluster about this. I had no complaints about buying a new board & stuff because I had AMD. With the choices being the Ryzen or trying an Intel, I chose this, with much angst in saying "goodbye" to AMD. So now with the thing built, I tried this chip in stock clocks with amazing results. Since I have liquid cooling, I took it to 5GHz on all 6 cores with zero issues. 30-50c max, FAST isn't the right word. It's silly fast. If yours needs to be "de-lidded" to hit the 5 mark, then something is wrong. The "K" can certainly hit that without voiding the warranty. Stock it is plenty fast but not going to perform better than a regular 8700, which is why we buy the "K", so we can over clock. If stock clocks are good, save & buy the non "K". This chip is fantastic, with no heat issues, lock ups, perfect. It's O.K. to drop AMD for now. Ryzen can't touch this.Read full review

While not the newest intel chip, this one certainly holds it own in modern day gaming. I play a variety of games and needed an upgrade, and this was perfect. I got mine at half the price of a new cpu, which is a great deal for an identical product. If you're content with an upper mid level gaming cpu, this is the one. Make sure you have adequate cooling though.
