    One of the best!

Ok, so I purchased this book MANY decades ago for a sign language class. My book had many notes in it as I used it over other sign language books! “The Joy Of Signing” is well organized, has many diverse general signings. This is my 2nd copy as I’ve misplaced my original copy with the notes :( of course this book isn’t going to cover ALL signing. BUT it’s great for beginners as well as experts/seasoned signers for reference. The only way to really learn you are going to learn more than what is in any book is to submerge yourself in the deaf community and culture. I highly recommend this book! It’s clear, concise, very easy to understand. I’m hoping to save up for the current edition of this fabulous book! I recommend this one over other books! (I have many).

  • Wonderful product

My son is learning sign language and his teacher at school uses this exact book. I wanted the same one so we could follow along in the lessons. My son is 5 and needs to know "why." This book is awesome because it not only shows a picture of the sign and tells you the action, but it gives you the 'origin' which acts as a tip for remembering (example: Tigers have stripes and claws (as you draw your fingers across your cheeks)). As you do the sign, you can say the origin out loud which really helps my son to associate an action with a meaning. The joy of Signing is also organized into sections (people, animals, pronouns, etc.) as well as having an alphabetical index. This makes it a valuable educational tool and easy to make lesson plans from. Very easy to use. Great for ...

  • Review for "The Joy of Signing" Book.

I love the book. It is very helpful to me in my sign language studies. I bought the book because my sign language instructor had one that I used and suggested that I should get my own. I am glad I did. I use it often now. I do not have to wait for my next class to find out how to sign a word now. There is not really anything that I dislike about it. I have used other products but they didn't have as much information as easily accessible as this book does. I would suggest this book to anybody that is studying sign language. The pictures are very clear and with the instructions to the right of the pictures it is very easy to figure out how to do the signs. Thanks, Donna

  • The best hand sign pictures ever!

I started a sign class and this book actually speaks to me just as the instructor of the class. I couldn't have found a better value for what I paid for this book. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn American Sign Language.

  • Talking Hands

My wife, without knowing it, gave me this title for sign in general. I love all the illustrations that "The Joy of Signing" has. It is a very helpful book. I am learning sign because I want to not because I have to. Thank GOD. I asked about other books with friends and they all recommended this one. The only thing I don't like is the book is a little behind in current sign useage. Can't complain though. I bought the book for a friend that is also learning sign and she did not have any kind of a book to go by. I showed her my book and she asked if I would get her one. I would recommend this book to anyone. My sign teacher even has this book to teach out of. Can't get much of a better recommendation.
