About this product

Product Information

An underground classic since its first publication in 1996,Fight Clubis now recognized as one of the most original and provocative novels published in this decade. Chuck Palahniuk's darkly funny first novel tells the story of a godforsaken young man who discovers that his rage at living in a world filled with failure and lies cannot be pacified by an empty consumer culture. Relief for him and his disenfranchised peers comes in the form of secret after-hours boxing matches held in the basements of bars.Fight Clubis the brainchild of Tyler Durden, who thinks he has found a way for himself and his friends to live beyond their confining and stultifying lives. But in Tyler's world there are no rules, no limits, no brakes.

    Better than the film?

I'm currently reading books of my favourite films, and this was the most challenging one to read. Whilst it gives a better insight into the depths of the narrator's journey into madness, the composition sometimes makes it a difficult read. It's one of the few books I'd say it's eclipsed by the film. Still worthy of a read, a short one at that. 9/10 Tyler Durdens would insert pages of Hustler into the middle of it.

  • An incredible experience!

A fascinating exploration of an amazingly disturbed mind. Quite violent, with blatant in-your-face language. But the protagonist's descent into madness is very interesting to observe. You'll have to read it more than once to catch it all.

  • Great book, good read.

Nice to read the book that inspired the movie - a little different but a great read. This book kept my attention and I had it completely read within days. When it came in, my bf said, "oh yeah, that's the book Brad Pitt is in, right?" I replied with a simple "yes."

  • Great book explaining a few things not covered by the movie. Short & sweet!

The book explains the little details about the characters that the movie only touches on. Marla is a much more prominent character, and it set the tone for the hit motion picture.

  • Really good I didn't expect so much

I think this book is really good, almost as good as the movie, if you have seen the film adaptation I think you should also read the book because it has some things that do not happen in the movie.
