  • A great history story.

I purchased this book for my son's schooling, 11th grade. We will be studying the 1800's and this book is part of our history reading. I have not finished the book yet, but what I have looked at seems pretty exciting. I'm interested in finding out about the Indians' point of view concerning the United Stated and how they were treated (not fairly) by the government during the expansion of the United States across the continent. This book is a compilation of historical documents and speeches by different Indian tribes across the United States. It shows how the Indians dealt with the difficulties of treaties being broken and their forced removal for land the "white man" wanted as their own.

  • Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee is perhaps the premier book on the history of the indian wars and native American culture at that point in history. This book stands alone because it written from the perspective of the natives, not the white man. Each chapter follows the trials faced by different tribes without loosing the interconnectedness of the events as a whole culminating at the battle at wounded knee. Dee Browns unique (though factual and documented) approach gives the book a humanity often lost on other books on the subject. It is nearly impossible not to feel a sense of solidarity with these people who were so grievously wronged by the american government. Personally this book falls into the catagory of things that are important to know but so painful part of you would have ...

  • Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee , the best Native American book ever written!

I have read this wonderful book, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown recently and I wanted to purchase a hardcover edition for my personal 'library' and to re-read this true story of Native American's in history. The price was reasonable, the product is the best money I have ever spent on ebay, a wonderful treasure to find! The price of this book is very inexpensive vs. the price of a new hardcover edition, a super incredible ebay find! A highly recommended 'must read' and 'must own' book! Thank you.

  • The story of the settling of the North American continent by European immigrants, from the point of view of the indigenous peoples.

This book is a must-read for all fearless seekers of historical truth. Tells the story of the settling of the North American continent by European immigrants, from the point of view of the indigenous peoples. It will unsettle, and maybe even shock, many readers - it's about time!
