About this product

Product Information

"A brilliant achievement." --Boston Herald "Entertaining...profound....A novel for adults that unearths our buried fascination with the primal fears and truths fairy tales contain." --Christian Science Monitor Gregory Maguire, the acclaimed author who re-imagined a darker, more dangerous Land of Oz in his New York Times bestselling series The Wicked Years, offers a brilliant reinvention of the timeless Snow White fairy tale: Mirror Mirror. Setting his story amid the cultural, political and artistic whirlwind of Renaissance Italy--and casting the notorious Lucrezia Borgia as the Evil Queen--Maguire and Mirror Mirror will enthrall a wide array of book lovers ranging from adult fans of Harry Potter to readers of the sophisticated stories of Angela Carter.

  • Definitely interesting

I almost didn't get past the first chapter of this book because it read too much like Shakespeare to me. However, I pushed on and I was glad that I did because it didn't take long to catch on. True, the story took some bizarre turns, but I actually fell in love with the way that Maguire writes. I liked the different perspectives that he told the story from. I thought it was an interesting take on the story of Snow White. The only thing that I would warn against is that it isn't child-friendly and I didn't feel any real resolution in the end.

  • Mirror Mirror

I have rather enjoyed Maguire's other takes on favorite fairy tales, so I was quite disappointed by his unseemly interpretation of Snow White. I found the crudeness of the language and characters in this book to be quite disgusting. The storyline was also quite difficult to follow in spots (no flow). I could hardly bring self to finish it and when I did I was even disappointed in the ending (there was no resolution).

  • Mirror Mirror

Honestly I am just collecting Gregory Maguire. I have no idea if its good or not but everything else I read by him is so I bought it.

  • Mirror Mirror

I bought this for my daughter for Xmas, since she loves this author. The book is in excellent condition and the perfect gift. Nice book cover.
