About this product

Product Information

When a young married couple inherit a dilapidated old theater in a small English town, they decide to sell it. However, Matt and Jean Spenser quickly realize the offer made by a competing cinema is smaller than the debts they have inherited along with the building. As a result, they come up with a scheme to hold a grand reopening that they hope will drive up its value. But Matt and Jean don't count on their three wacky employees who prove they will go to any lengths to make sure the theater stays open.

  • It Could Have Been Better........

This is a very watchable film, with a potentially interesting story. Unfortunately, it just is not developed very well. The talents of Margaret Rutherford, go for the most part unnoticed. There is one charming scene where she is playing the Piano for Silent Films that were shown at the little movie house in its' heyday. This film is charming for that one scene alone. A shame more of this type of storyiine could not have been developed in both her character, and the projectionist played by Peter Sellers. I recommend seeing it anyway, because of its' uniqueness, and at times glimpses of what the story could have been! DVD print is very good. Excellent clarity in glorious Black and White.

  • GOOD CLEAN PRINT OF THIS SELLERS MINI-CLASSIC

This DVD is a great way to own this early Peter Sellers movie. Although this DVD is full-screen, the original frame of the film is not much larger, so you're not missing much by not having the "letterbox" version. The video and audio are clean and crisp, so it's not a "bargain-basement" bad print of the film that you'll be watching. This DVD is a good value for the price.

  • Early Peter Sellers Movie

One of Peter Seller's early movies- also starring Margaret Rutherford. Not his best but still worth seeing if you are a Peter Sellers fan.
