Works for my Wii
Item worked out of the box to connect my Wii to a 'Smart' TV. Wii had only RCA type jacks and my TV has only HDMI, so this device was a nice cheap compromise. No external power is needed, it draws juice from the included USB cable - I connected it to the back of the Wii. Form factor is small & light. This did NOT up-convert the SD signal from Wii to the TV, it just converted RCA signal to HDMI, so the picture was not as clear as I would have liked, but it's still playable.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Changes Picture Color on Conversion
It does convert RCA to HD and it’s an easy set up. But the resulting picture has a strong blue / purple hue in the top third of the picture, and sort of yellowish on the bottom. I have no idea why. I used an excellent clean VCR and brand new cables and every tape did this weird color shift. It’s probably fine for some projects but not for professional use.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Thought that i could use this to connect my TV to a sound bar with only a stereo 3.5 mm connection where the TV only has a HDMI ARC output, but it does not work in that manner. Connect your old tech to new tech
I use this converter to connect my old style DVD player to my new Smart TV. This unit gives me the ability to connect both using the 3 RCA plugs (Red, Yellow and White). The picture is clear and the converter gives you the ability to choose between 720 and 1080 and it has the output using an HDMI cable which then connects directly into your new Smart TV. Easy to use converter with OK picture quality
Th product worked right out of the box in 1080P mode but the picture is a little fuzzy. I use an Xbox 360 as a media center extender and was able to connect to my 60" tv through the Xbox's hdmi port. The picture was beautiful but the sound level was very low. Multiple forums stated that the sound was much better through the composite port. The converter was very easy to hook up and the sound level is much better but the picture quality is not as good. Need your analog monitor to display you receiver settings on your new HDMI digital TV?
I had an older analog Harmon Kardon AVR525 receiver and I needed an analog tv to view the monitor output so I could see the surround sound set-up, as it requires a video monitor (TV). I used to be able to view it on my old analog tv; however, when I got a new digital tv I lost this option and my surround configuration got messed up and I could not see what was wrong. This box helps me bring old video tech into a modern setting. Feed in the the traditional NTSC/Stereo 3-plug signal made by VCRs, Laserdisc players, Old-Video-Cameras, etc and get a solid HDMI output without all the jittery instability of analog signals. This is a real plus if your display device takes its time resyncing any time a video signal blips. Those blips in signal just don't make it downstream of the box. It’s good, but...
Does it work? Yes. Is there lag? No. I only really have one complaint, and that’s the resolution. It looks worse than it would if I were just using a CRT (80’s-90’s generation TV) but I suppose I can’t expect much coming from such a cheap purchase. Just don’t expect to buy this as an actual upscaler for something to go from 480p to 720p or 1080p, as this does indeed lower image quality and resolution.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
