SynopsisContaining more than 800 photographs, Airliner Models chronicles the use of professionally made airliner models in the marketing of air travel since 1919. For model collectors, the airliner type, makers name, scale, approximate age and the materials used are detailed for each model illustrated. A short history of significant model-making companies is covered. With the onset of online bookings and the closure of airline offices and travel agents, the use of models is fast vanishing forever. The focus of this book is to preserve this fascinating era when models were a significant marketing tool. To ensure that these models, at least in photographic form, survive as a record for future generations, Anthony Lawler has spent eight years assembling the information and photographs to complete this book., Airliner Models chronicles the use of professionally made airliner models in the marketing of air travel since 1919. MAGNIFICENT ALUMINUM/CHROME AIRLINER DISPLAY MODELS; Excellent material and informative stories regarding aircraft. Richard Starr
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT AND INFORMATIVE AVIATION BOOK COVERING METAL CLASSIC AIRCRAFT MODELS FROM AMERICA AND EUROPE, AMONG OTHER COUNTRIES.
Metal, aluminum, metal chrome, and some plastic display model aircraft are covered.
There are famous commercial display aircraft from the thirties through the present day that are represented within.
I personally have thirty 30 FOMAER 48TH ALUMINUM USAF & ITALIAN JET FIGHTERS and roughly 120 ALLYN SALES CHROME USAF JET AIRCRAFT from the fifties and sixties. Anthony Lawler has composed an excellent aviation model book of 336 pages, with hundreds of beautiful colorful pictures. I can't believe the depth of the subject presented. Never have I seen so many incredible model aircraft presented in one book.
I also have several ALLYN NICKEL/STAINLESS NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION B1 STRATEGIC JET BOMBERS, and BOEING 733 SUPERSONIC TRANSPORT by ALLYN.
Anthony Lawler tells some great personal stories regarding the acquisition of such rare and beautiful aircraft. I have learned a lot by reading this outstanding AND comprehensive aviation book. This book is HUGE coffee table style; I had to buy a larger coffee table to display this magnificent aviation classic book. 336 pages is rather large.
REGARDS, Richard Starr
