    Hard drive upgrade to old Dell laptop

    It can be a little risky trying to upgrade components on a 10-year old laptop, but for many still better than shelling out $500-1000 for a new one. In my case the migration was problematic; only having a complete backup on an external hard drive saved me. But once done, the new capacity keeps my device functional.

    Balkanized

    This particular drive had several partitions that could not be deleted, changed, nor extended. I would have liked to see just one big 500 GB partition. I wish the disk management worked better and gave specific info. I wish I knew more about why the extra, un-delete-able partitions are there.
