This Samsung 840 PRO 512GB Internal 2.5-inch SSD, or solid state drive, is perfect whether you are replacing an existing disk or building a new machine. SSD volumes have no moving parts. This makes them extremely resilient against shock damage and temperature. Samsung packed in advanced security features into this drive such as 256-bit encryption. If you're shopping for a larger memory capacity like a 1TB or 2TB storage volume, then you can add multiple drives to make your computer run faster. On the other hand, if you want to divide your drive into a number of smaller volumes, then you can partition any Samsung SSD using MBR or GUID technology. You can create two 256GB logical volumes out of each SSD. You can even make a smaller 128GB logical disk while the rest of the 512GB volume can go toward some other purpose.     Excellent in every sense of the word

    Hands down the best price for one of the longest lasting solid state drives on the market Samsung has the longest life on there solid state drives when compared to the others available on the market. I am a gamer and this drive is where I have all of my regularly played games and boots in and out of them very fast. Plus you won't find a better price on such a quality product out there

    SSD drive comes with excellent "Samsung Magician" software.

    I made this drive my "C" drive, and installed w10 on it. I then installed my programs on the drive. No problems; except it always tested slower than it should. The speed problem turned out to be the old sata cables that I was using. Once I changed to the latest sata cable, the drive was no longer bottle necked. The drive comes with Samsung Magician software to work with the drive, whereas other manufacturers don't supply any software for you. If I was a gamer, then I would be looking for a much larger capacity drive, but for what I do, 512 gb is ok.

    Best consumer level hard drive at the moment

    Great Drive. Scores under the server class OCZ Z-Drive PCI, but beats out any SATA3 drive out there. Gets a 7.9 win score. Windows 7 load times are under 10 seconds, Sims 3 with expansions went from 4:30 minutes to around 45seconds. Everything loads considerably faster, between 4-10x as fast. 2 different benchmark tools confirm advertised performance. In my build I actually got better than advertised performance. Write times are pretty quick too, and 512gb should help ease the concern about the limited number of rewrites. Pair this with a traditional hard drive for your temporary media, reduce the size of your swap file, and turn off sleep mode. You should have no probably running your priority apps for years to come. I paid around 325 bucks, so it was a great value as well.

    VERY FAST, EASY INSTALL, BUT, there are things you may need to know.(READ)

    I LOVE THIS SSD, SUPER FAST, but I don't know about reliability yet. The Migration Software is great. Those of you who are using the migration software on an existing Windows install WILL need this info to go from IDE to AHCI in your BOIS for enhancing the SSD speed and/or purely just to get the SSD to work on your system. Your system may beep and not boot if you do not do this first before removing the old HDD ..........This is for migrating your current Windows OS from HDD to your new SSD. I did this and I didn't miss a beat, I went from 1 drive to the next as if nothing happen .........1. In the Windows start menu on your old HDD drive, search box type "regedit" (without the quotes) then right click the entry and click "Run as Administrator". .........2. Enter your user ...
