The cookbook has some good recipes. I just wish there were pictures of each one. Otherwise, it's great!

Atkins For Life, good food and more
I was told by my dr. that I needed to go on a low-carb diet because my sugar was high. I had been on the Atkins Diet a few years ago and craved real food rather than the heavy meat and protein consumption I remembered from the past, plus I wasn't looking forward to the wierd aftertaste of the artificial sugar items that I choked down to assuage my sugar cravings. The old recipes from the diet book didn't turn out that great for me. However, this recipe book is pretty good. I like the way it is organized, giving menues and suggestions for different holidays. Other sections are titled, "Speedy Weeknight Suppers," "Cooking for One," "Snacks & Nibbles," and many others. In between recipes, little sidebars give interesting facts about foods or tips to help with shopping, cooking, or staying on ... I feel that these recipes are for real and legitimate food, not just imitation food made from foul-tasting diet chemicals that you choke down, longing for the real thing and feeling abandoned from the world of good cuisine which leads to cheating. Cheese biscuits? Yes. Fried Onion Rings. Um-hmm. Spider Cupcakes for Halloween. Yes! After about 6 months, I have lost nearly 30 pounds and I am more in touch with what I need to consume to have energy, be able to think straight, and maintain my weight loss. Having some good recipes that don't compromise on carb intake is a big, big help. I borrowed the book from the public library first, then peeked on ebay to see if one was up for bid. I got a great deal and this 2004 dated book was in excellent condition. Original price was $25.95.

Atkins Low-carb Cookbook
I love that the cookbook has pictures of the meals and that they have so many that are easy to make. A lot better than a paperback with no pictures and harder to read. I have lost ten pounds already and plan to lose at least fifteen more and stay on the program for good. It has done wonders for my BP and sugar lab reports. I have to watch what I eat because of Achalasia and Barrett's esophagus. This has been a good diet for me. I have used the diet before, a long time ago, and kept the weight off a long time. After returning to my old habits of loving carbs, up the weight went. Take a chance, talk to you doctor and see what happens.
