Have no reservations about reading this book. Erdrich has crafted a rich Native American landscape in this touching and heartfelt novel that will change the way you think about American history. This is the story of the rather one-sided battle for America's land, as told by the 'losing' faction, the Natives who were forced from their homes by the avarice of European settlers. The characters in this story are flawed and beautiful, the storyline captivating and the tone reverential. Take the time to read this book, you will not be disappointed.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it to other readers. The dynamics of family, society, tradition, and culture all intertwine to weave this beautiful, sad, hopeful story about a people steeped in the traditions of their past while trying to live and adapt in a present full of change and uncertainty. This story is very well written with life-like characters, great imagery, and a believable magic. I especially love Nanapush's poignant reflections – there is a quiet strength in them that grounds the story in reality.
good book, required for a class but still compelling/interesting

Tracks was very difficult to read in the beginning. Readers need to understand their are duel narrators and so each chapter switches viewpoints. One narrator is reliable while the other is unreliable. The book was interesting but hard to get into. The ending was complete so you have to just guess what happens.
