About this product

Product Information

After being dumped by his longtime girlfriend, twenty-eight-year-old Justin Halpern found himself living at home with his seventy-three-year-old dad. Sam Halpern, who is "like Socrates, but angrier, and with worse hair," has never minced words, and when Justin moved back home, he began to record all the ridiculous things his dad said to him: "That woman was sexy. . . . Out of your league? Son, let women figure out why they won't screw you. Don't do it for them." "Do people your age know how to comb their hair? It looks like two squirrels crawled on their heads and started fucking." "The worst thing you can be is a liar. . . . Okay, fine, yes, the worst thing you can be is a Nazi, but then number two is liar. Nazi one, liar two." Almost two million people now follow Mr. Halpern's philosophical musings on Twitter, and in this book, his son weaves a brilliantly funny, touching coming-of-age memoir around the best of his quotes. An all-American story that unfolds on the Little League field, in Denny's, during excruciating family road trips, and, most frequently, in the Halperns' kitchen over bowls of Grape-Nuts, Sh*t My Dad Says is a chaotic, hilarious, true portrait of a father-son relationship from a major new comic voice.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is even better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. All in all I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you and be safe. Good luck to the future.

  • Touching stories of adolesence under an intense Dad. Beware! Lots of Sh*t!

I live out in the country and drive to town at least twice a week (100 mile round trip). I listen to audio books on tape during my drive. The title of this CD spiked my interest, plus a friend had read the printed version and recommended it. The stories of the author's Dad were funny, stoic, familiar, and entertaining. As we all do, the author so yearned for verbal acceptance and at least some physical attention from his Dad. His Dad, of course, gave very little to no attention or affection to his off-spring. But this did not keep the author from trying. Heart warming stories, often with lessons of life incorporated, were told with great emotion and realism. I did grow tired, however, of the Dad's constant cursing as stories unfolded. I do realize this verbage contributed to the ...

  • great book on CD

Love the book, but the "F" word could be used a little less often. What happened to the show that was on based on the book, loved it.
