  • Contoversial, but informative nevertheless

This book is written by Vladimir Rezun under the pseudonym "Viktor Suvorov", a former Soviet Tank company commander, Spetznaz soldier, and GRU (military intelligence) Colonel. There has been some controversy surrounding some of Sovorov's books, primarily centered around the book "Icebreaker" and the contention that Stalin intended a pre-emptive attack against Nazi Germany in 1941, and Hitler simply beat him to the punch. That theory has largely been dismissed by some professional historians, but in the absence of a "smoking gun" to categorically disprove the idea, it cannot be discounted entirely. This book focuses on Suvorov's years as a Soviet Military Intelligence (GRU) Agent, and provides fascinating insights into the function and operations of the Soviet GRU in the 1960's and 70's. ...

  • Perfect. Recommended!

Fast. Good quality, even above expectation. Good book. I read it in Russian in 1995. It's worth reading by any western person to understand the Russian mentality, the Russian threat and the power of Russian Secret Service (GRU), which is even more powerful then KGB. I trust the book from the beginning to the end.
