    Thought-provoking and complex

    This is a riveting study of capital punishment and crime. It is not an exaggeration to say that this film had a profound effect on me. It is challenging, intelligent and beautifully crafted. Herzog makes no secret of his own beliefs about the death penalty, but allows every perspective to have a voice in the film. It is moving and powerful, and I found myself talking about it constantly to friends and family. If you are prepared to go into the depths to look at the concept of 'life' then you will appreciate this film.
