Product Information

The Oscar winner for Best Picture of 1931 chronicles one family's experiences in the restless days of settling the American West. Adapted from Edna Ferber's sweeping novel, the story tracks the growth of an Oklahoma town and the homesteaders who came there from the 1890s through the 1920s. CIMARRON was remade in 1960.

  • The special feature is better than the movie.

"Cimarron" is a bit corny, especially the acting of star Richard Dix; but it's still entertaining. The opening landrush sequence is amazing. One of the two special features "The Devil's Caberet," from 1930, is well worth the price of admission. It's a fifteen minute, precode musical short, with a little bit of everything. The setting is Hell.
