    As a foster and adoptive parent, I can testify that everything in this book is 100% true. It is not sensationalized or biased. It shows that most birthparents are not monsters; they have good intentions but are often incapable of change. It does not demonize foster children, nor present them as angels who will magically behave if moved to a loving home. If you are considering becoming a foster parent, this true story should be required reading. Pay special attention to some of the shocking things some abused children will do to act out, and ask yourself honestly if you could respond to such acts without hitting the child or even screaming at them. If you are patient, not easily shocked, and can work with birthparents and social workers with the goal of what is truly best for the child, ...
