A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum
The preview to the main show I found to be very interesting. I hadn't seen some of these news clips before and others brought back fond memories. I didn't realise that some of the action took place like LBJ's visit to Australia in 1966. I was away from Sydney at the time working and so missed a lot of what went on in my old stamping ground. I enjoyed the main story, I knew most of the actors who performed their respective parts really well and some out of their usual type of roles, whilst for others it must have been a leg up in the world of show business as they were just starting out on the long road to stardom. Altogether I sat back and enjoyed every minute of the performance, the comedy was not overdone slapstick like many shows degenerate into, and some sequences took a quite ... I saw this movie when it first came out, loved it. Much the same as a mad, mad, mad world. The actors were real, full of character, they didn't take themselves too seriously which enabled the movie to come to life. I'm 68 now, and with the advent of computers in movies now, they look great and I enjoy all movies, but with the loss of our earlier STARS, we have lost that early originality. That time will never come back, which I lament so much. The movie, 'A Funny Thing.....' at least we are left with fond memories of a time long past.I saw this movie when it first came out, loved it. I remembered this movie from many years ago. However, I thought it was better than this. Wouldn't buy it again. However, the format of the DVD was excellent - set out in the old way when you went to the movies. The newsreel on this DVD is excellent
