Every cliche about a good book fits this one.
Interesting and exciting with every page turn. I borrowed and read this book several years ago, and thought enough of it to buy it and reread it. While reading, some of the juicier content is too good not to share with the immediate audience. Five stars for sure!

Death in the Long Grass was great reading!
Capstick’s book provides an incredibly fascinating perspective into the world of the Professional Hunter on the Dark Continent. There’s no caged up half tame or Walt-Disney World pet animals in his accounts of Africa, just the raw nature of wild animals acting out their predator and prey instincts. Sometimes humans are the predator and sometimes they are the prey. It is a page turner that keeps you reading late into the night with account after account of close call, narrow escape and death by claw and fang. With all the confusing television programs that would have you believe that wild animals are just like us only with more hair, it’s refreshing to see Africa and its wild beasts portrayed as they really are. It should be required reading for every “Do Gooder”, Vegan and Animal ... It is a wild place inhabited by wild animals where the survival of the fittest prevails. When you enter the domain of the big five, you enter a primordial world where you can be part of the food chain…

Grrrrreat book!!
Love reading Safari books , problem is I buy African calibers big money on ammo to shoot targets. Hunting on Safaris these days isn't sport, leave them alone unless lives are in danger. These bozo's have a professional hunter with a 460 standing behind them. Go mano to mano like the old days, cowards.

This is a book my husband received as a gift fromhis father when it was first published. My son was about to wear out his dad's copy, so we bought him his own. Now, my son's daughter has a serious boyfriend and my son wanted to be sure he had a copy!! It is extremely interesting and well-written. Years ago, I was dusting and picked the book up to move it. I was curious as to which animal my husband reading about, so I turned to his bookmark. AN HOUR LATER I realized I was still reading it!!!
