Adaptations of Star Trek's Third (And Weakest) Season
Being a fan of Star Trek: The Original Series (or fan of anything in general) means that you have to accept that some things are not as good as you'd expect. Season Three of the original Star Trek is a shining example of that rule. Episodes such as "Spock's Brain", "The Way to Eden", and "Turnabout Intruder" were awful episodes, but alas, there are also okay episodes such as "Spectre of the Gun" and great episodes such as "The Enterprise Incident", "Is There In Truth No Beauty?", "The Tholian Web", and "The Savage Curtain". James Blish's adaptations of these stories (reprinted here from the 12-volume Bantam Books lineup) are really well done given that he only had the original screenplays of the episodes to use as reference.
