One of the best guides to this subject was published about ten years ago by professional modeller and layout builder Ian Morton. This has been long overdue for revision given the way the electronics applicable to model railways has moved on in that time. This much revised edition introduces the concepts and practice of wiring model railway layouts in an easy and accessible manner. Starting from the assumption that the reader has no knowledge beyond connecting up a train set, the book guides us through the various techniques used until we have the knowledge to wire up a complex model railway. Beginning with the basics, the book moves on to covers cab control, the operation of points and signals, train detection and lighting. Technology that was not widely available to modellers when the book was first published, such as the use of LEDs, is also reviewed in this new edition.
