Perfect size and heats really well!
This hot plate is wonderful and I have not stopped using it since I got it. It heats very well and has a dial that from 1-5 which is low, med is 3 and high is 5 which I love. My medium size frying pan fits perfectly on the burner and medium stock pot for cooking spaghetti. It also cleans very well with a warm sponge to take away any oil that might have splattered. All in all I couldn't be any more happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it. This hot plate is wonderful and I have not stopped using it since I got it. The hot plate is attractive and easy to clean. However I bought it so that I could cook outside when frying something very hot and Smokey. Unfortunately it doesn't get hot enough to cook at the right temperature

I bought this hot plate to pressure can food. It has enough power to do that with a granite ware 20 quart pressure canner. With the 1300 watt hot plate I can can all day and use the stove at the same time. It does take a bit longer to heat up the pressure canner than my stove, but you are able to more the canner away from the stove, or can on the stove and still have a large burner available.

Works Great
This gets hot fast and doesn't use a lot of electricity to maintain it's temperature due to the cast iron burner. It maintains a very nice, consistent temperature for long periods of time for warming, but is also capable of boiling water in a big hurry. The design allows you to be able to use a variety of size pots. It's just a really nice addition to my kitchen and is very useful.

I bought this to use outside, to do canning and reduce tomatoes to sauce outside, as well as cooking onions and bacon. I wanted to keep the steam and smells outside. This is perfect. The temperature control is completely variable from it's lowest to highest settings. No 'notches' or imperfect heat setting. A few reviews whine about not enough power. Wrong. Get a FLAT pan that has a good interface with the heating surface, and this will do anything asked. Use a warped pan, and all your heat will be wasted. As long as it lasts (Cuisinart stuff usually does well here), this is a bargain.
