    A HUMAN LESSON IN HISTORY

    I first saw 'The Promise' as a 4 part series on SBS Australia in 2011 and the story stayed with me. Being born in 1949, how little I knew of the Palestine-Israel modern history and the still existing conflicts. The story being told in today's world woven so well with the times immediately after WW2 when European Jewish refugees resettled and claimed Palestinian homes as their own. For me, I gained a greater, more balanced understanding of the reasons for the continuing hatred and fighting that still exists in 2021.

    Fascinating and enlightening insight into the post war Israel/Palestininan ongoing problems

    This is an engaging and well made drama documentary that will surprise and shock many. I grew up and went to school in Australia while all this was going on and we were never told any of this at the time or since. If you really want to know why peace in this part of the middle east is so frustratingly illusive, this four part series will have you rivited in front of your TV as you come to understand the situation much more clearly and balanced. Just how the British were treated as they tried in good faith to facilitate the United Nations mandate post WW2 for the creation of modern Israel will enlighten, shock and astound you. This is a "must see" for everyone who yearns to see a peaceful and just settlement of this ongoing debacle in the middle east that has been allowed to fester for ...
