I've been using this new router for about 3 weeks now and Its definitely one of the best I've purchased. I've tried Netgear, I was a fan of their products for too long and Tp- Link etc... with my Spectrum AKA-(Time Warner Cable) Company... It has a ton more features, takes a little time to customize settings but its so worth it! I got 1 GB speed instantly when directly connected via ethernet cable... Im not a techy or anything like that but I am somewhat tech savvy and I learn more as I go... Internet that doesn't constantly drop or disconnect... I previously had enough with those issues... Its very user friendly and I'm happy that I finally decided to switch it up. Built in Security, AIMesh, Parental Controls, Gaming excelleration. Etc.... I tried another Asus product earlier in the year and Its been good since.... I have on average 10 to 15 smart devices, 2-3 gaming devices/ consoles and so on connecting daily and lagging has been non-existant since upgrading.... Im planning to get an extender or another AImesh unit to use for the other side of the house.... not sure when or if needed anymore but we'll see how it goes... will update if anything changes!!! I am happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend!Read full review

Since the device had been used previously, the instructions included (a quick setup page) were inadequate so did not help with my initial setup. The device required it be reset to factory settings. I had to go online to find the manual and user forum to find the sequence of buttons required to reset and clear the memory. From there the quick setup instructions included worked.

Works very well, but make sure to schedule automatic reboots. Asus firmware has a long standing issue of losing access to the WebUI randomly. reboots are the only thing that seem to bring it back. I set this up with an AC68U as an AI mesh node to improve coverage in a 2400 sq ft. home and it has performed well with 4 active users. This router is a great value for this and other features advanced users will appreciate.

Let me start off by saying I spent a lot of time researching routers, reading reviews and deciding just how much router I really needed. Through my research this router appeared to be on many top 10 lists. Finally I decided to give it a shot since I didn’t want to break the bank on some of the higher end routers. Wow!! I love this router! Very easy setup and the range is excellent. My house is a little over 2400sqft and there’s no dead zones with this Asus. My router is positioned on my desk in the front of my house. I can finally use the 5ghz band in the back of the house without drop outs from lost of connection. I couldn’t say the same about my previous Belkin 802.11n router. I have a 200mbps internet plan from Spectrum. I ran a speed test on my iPhone 7 in the back of my back yard and still pulled 90-100mbps. My Xbox One X, which is in the back of my house, always seems to pull the full 200mbps and most devices pull at least 170 inside the house. I’ve ran 4K content on Netflix on 3 different Firesticks and streamed music on my iPhone with no delay. The USB 3.0 port works like a charm. I have a hard drive I yanked out of a MacBook Pro 2007 version back when I upgraded the hard drive years ago. I threw a $3 case on it and turned it into an external HD. I still use the hard drive as a backup drive for my Macs. I have videos on the hard drive I’d like to view on my Samsung SUHD TV. Before this router I couldn’t do it. The tv wouldn’t recognize the drive because of the Mac partition format when I plugged it directly into the USB port on the tv and using the USB port on my Belkin or Arris TG1672G (provided by Spectrum) didn’t work either. The tv wouldn’t see the drive from either router. Now with this Asus, not only does the tv see the drive wirelessly when the drive is plugged into the USB port on the Asus, but it streams with no delay and lets me pan through videos with very little delay (about one second). I haven’t spent any time tweaking the settings yet but after 2 weeks I’m extremely satisfied with the performance of this router for the price. As for looks, aesthetically I think it looks nice black and red. It’s a little big and can only stand up so it’s not wall mountable but that doesn’t bother me. It’s no taller or wider than the Arris TG1672G provided to me by Spectrum to serve as my modem/router combo. Hope this helps!Read full review

I've tried a few different mesh systems to try and get better coverage in my house, but they all had shortcomings. I decided to try this router from Asus to see what it could do. WOW! This thing has as good or better overall coverage than any mesh system I've tried, with only one router, not multiple nodes, and the speed is way beyond the Apple Airport Extreme I've been using for a few years, it's not even close. Asus routers are known for their reliability and ease of use, and this is no exception. The included AiProtection that is backed by TrendMicro is a welcome feature for my IoT items in my house. I would recommend this router to anyone, and I have worked in I.T. for a number of years, and have tried a number of different routers. This one is the real deal! It's a little expensive upfront, but when you think about how much we do on the internet these days, and how long these usually last, it's a worthwhile investment in my book.Read full review
