This movie reminds me of the old drive-in movies of my youth. I remember some of the classics, like Last house on the Left, I spit on your grave and others that kept us riveted to the screen to see what kind of scary, messed up s**t they'd come up with next. House of 1000 Corpses does just that. The premise is about as cliche as you'll find. Kids with attitude on the road. Kids get lost. Kids meet killers. Kids die. That's pretty much it. But the weird journey is what makes this thing interesting. Sid Haig, as Capt. Spaulding, is one freaky dude. I don't think you'll find a better phycho clown anywhere, ever. You gotta have some laughs along the way and Capt. Spaulding will make you laugh, although you'll feel a little guilty about laughing later, if you think about it. Rob Zombie has produced a classic horror/gore/exploitation movie, and he's done it with surprisingly little actually nudity and violent acts. You see a lot of blood, but not that much actual blood letting. Most of it is inferred or after the fact, but it gives your imagination the opportunity to run, and run it will. It includes many of the old cliches of it's predecessors and sort of pokes fun at itself. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It's entertainment, not a historical documentary. I bought this because I've yet to see this and the sequel back to back. I can't remember it being on HBO or Starz, so I figured the only way was to buy this and the sequel. The special features are worth the cost alone...hilarious and entertaining. It's also interesting to see the interviews with Capt. Spaulding and the others. If you're a fan of horror/gore and slasher movies, and you'd like to relive some of the movies of your youth, like the old drive in movie genre, then you'll appreciate this movie. And don't forget the sequel, the Devils Rejects. Invite your friends over, pop some popcorn and laugh and gore your way thru an evening.Read full review

I've seen this movie before I bought it on here, but it's always something you want to have around the house - if you're into that kind of thing. Rob Zombie as always is awesome and Captain Spaulding is worth buying the movie enough. Not that I need to mention this, but this is definitely not something you want to show your children or people who scare easily. There's a lot of graphic images that could really frighten somebody. But if you can handle it, go for it! If you're into awesome horror flicks with just enough humor, definitely go for House of 1000 Corpses.
Awesome movie, great deal!

Sid Haig's performance of Captain Spaulding is simply top notch. He presents this character in a simply delightful manner and in a classic way as well.
