bought game and installed on win 7 computer runs fine on win 7. I like that once installed no run disc is required anymore. The problem is it doesn't install properly in xp. A configuration error stops it from running (ps original zoo tycoon 2 from Microsoft runs no problem in xp on same computer. I also tried on win 10 computer with the exact specs as win 7 computer and it would not render video on win 10 computer. corrected problem by removing old nvidea drivers (card removed) as game was choosing them over r7 drivers that were installed. I hope they have solution for xp users as there are no real changes you can make while installing this software. If you have win 7 or 10 go ahead and buy but make sure old drivers completely uninstalled through control panel. I purchased Roller coaster tycoon 3 platinum from same site and works all operating systems as promised. I am changing my previous review. I'm a computer nerd but not a total tech so it is beyond my means to repair xp issue on my own. I am posting to save grief for Xp and win 10 users.Read full review

I played this game when it came out and wanted to try it again. I installed it on my computer and the software worked. After that, it hasn't worked. I reinstalled the software but it still doesn't work.

This works fine on Windows 10 , Graphics are okay. This game is a challenge , after designing your zoo, you have tasks you will have to do , like take samples from around the zoo to determine what has caused and illness and find a cure. On the original Zoo Tycoon all you did was fund research. Another Difference , you have to read about the animals and try to figure out the habitats and things they like, that part changed quite a bit from the original game however you have greater ability to design outstanding exhibits. I like this version a lot better and the best part is you can change the perspective and walk around the zoo and see it like you are actually there with the ability to look up and down a, open gates . Its a fun game I love it.!!

For a game released in 2008, the graphics are sorely lacking. There are too many glitches in the game itself - it reports that animals are not contained in their habitats, when upon confirming it, they actually are. This causes a problem because zoo guests will run away from those exhibits, leading to a lack of donations and decrease in guest happiness. The game mechanics, such as placing walls and fences, can get confusing at times. You really have to have a feel for how they respond to placement if you're looking to build habitats that are more elaborate than your standard square or rectangle. The challenge mode made me scratch my head. One particular challenge, set on easy, only gave you $20,000 to start with. But with the cost of building one habitat that was comparable to the two others already established in that zoo, plus the cost of adoption, most of the money was gone, and there was no way to complete the challenge unless you simply let the game run for a year to replenish the funds so you could continue to work towards the goal. But the way the goal was set up, you would have to continue the cycle of build/adopt and wait a year with each habitat built before the animal the goal set for you to adopt was even available. It just seemed like an incredible waste of time. Free Form mode was more fun in my opinion, but there was absolutely no challenge to it, unless you set goals for yourself. Money was unlimited, everything was unlocked, and all it took was a few hours of game play to get the zoo to its best rating possible. Too simple. One thing that was very lacking in this game was the availability of an aviary, or a greater variety of birds that could cohabit. Flamingos and Peacocks seemed to get along fine. But try anything else and it was a dangerous combination for some reason. No ducks, no petting zoo, no elaborate lizard or insect exhibits like you would see at a normal zoo. It made for disappointing game play. I was in it for the realism, and it just didn't seem to add up for me. I didn't even get around to playing with the dinosaur feature. It seemed a little too out there to really mess with - more Jurassic Park than realistic zoo. If that's something you're into though, you might have fun with it. All in all, it was entertaining for the couple days I dedicated to it, but quickly became frustrating, as the larger my zoo got, the more the animals supposedly got out of their habitats (when they really didn't). Even with a large, dedicated zoo staff, things quickly became annoying. It did have a large database or encyclopedia that helped the player understand the animals better. I think if the game itself had been planned better mechanically and the bugs had been sifted out beforehand, the added expansions included in this set would have been worth the time. Kids younger than 13 might like it, but teenagers or adults who enjoy realistic sims might not enjoy this.Read full review
For some reason, Marine Mania tanks and things don't work. Haven't tried reinstalling yet. Other than that, which seems to be a common problem, everything looks fine. I used to play this game as a kid, and it's wonderful. Works fine on Windows 10.

My 10 year old really loves playing this game. It comes with all the Zoo Tycoon 2 expansion packs in one set. One drawback I have to mention is that Microsoft has had a quality control problem and for some of the games out there the disc number 3 is actually a duplicate of disc 2 and mislabeled. You will need to call Microsoft to get a replacement disc #3 at 1-800-360-7561. Luckily my neighbor let me borrow his disc to finish the installation. Overall the kids are really enjoying this - even my teenager who normally plays FPS games.
I really missed to play this game!! I've had it once on my old computer, but now that I ordered it again I can enjoy playing it again! I love every thing of the game. Really good graphics, gameplay and all those missions you can choose from, not to mention the animals! My favourite animal is the wolf there. I reccomend to play this game to everyone whos interested in zoo or animals overall!

I bought the game because I was tired of the original and I liked the first zoo tycoon. I love the variety in the ultimate collection. I have 139 (I think) over an original 28-29 (i think, with the additions of addax and musk ox). The game play lasts forever and there are so many opportunities to make a great zoo. The animals (Except musk ox) have family trees and they do not imbreed, a great realistic improvement over the last editions. The problems with the game: you don't know where you are during the month because the smallest time incrememt in the game is mby months, therefore when you're challenged to do something by two months, you don't know if you've already wasted half a month or not. Also, guests will often fall off of the raised platform into the exibits causing a huge ruccus. It's extremely annoying and I'm getting tired of having that happen so I rarely ever use them. Guests also have rest and drinking issues even when I have fountains and kiosks everywhere. They also will not walk up the raised platforms to see a show, which is also very annoying. If the company fixed those guest glitches the game would be significantly better. One other issue I found was making some species happy. The nile croc, for example, even with ample space and food, will go around killing the flamingos in the area. It would be helpful if the company wrote pros and cons to owning the species that hint toward possible issues with an animal, and what to look out for without making it too easy. Future improvements could include sorting guests out by their favorite animals (so we can determine what is the general favorite instead of scrolling through them all and estimating). Security guards might be cool, because of the children stealing bones from the digging pit and for future guest violations if the game so decided to add them. Another cool future improvement might be feeding times and viewing hours. Zoos that I've been to don't always have all the animals for viewing the entire time. If you were able to set an "hourly" schedule for each individual animal to move from a large containment to a smaller, more viewable exhibit that would be cool. The site of raw meat can be unattractive so if you could set a schedule for the animals to be fed that could reduce the appearance. All in all I love the game, am addicted, and I will continue to play it for years until a new realistic animal tycoon game comes to stores.Read full review
repurchased the game since I had it as a child; just as fun as I remember, more so with all the expansions. the game was brand new and still shrink wrapped. a base game and four expansions AND all the DLC, brand new for 14 dollars is an amazing value. the product works flawlessly on my Windows 10 laptop. thank you!

It seems like a fun and exciting game. Only problem is that there was a problem with Microsoft, the company that made the game, they didn't format the disks right so I got two disk 2's (even though it says disk three on the third). When I tried to install it it kept telling me to insert disk 3, so I did. It wouldn't get it! it kept telling me to insert disk 3. So I called the company and they told me that they were gonna send me the REAL disk 3. So I have to wait another week to start playing it. Kida disappointing... but I bet its gonna be worth it.
