Bought this to replace a 250gb Adata SSD used as a boot drive on my Macpro tower. The process went well and ended with a very pleasant surprise - a huge boost in speed over the older SSD, which had previously delivered a big speed boost over the spin drive it replaced. The WD is wicked fast. A tip if you're shopping for an SSD: it pays to get the biggest one you can afford, because of the way they wear down over time due to repeatedly overwritten blocks - the bigger they are, the less overwriting of used blocks and the longer the life expectancy. Also, if you are installing in a 3.5 bay using an adapter sled and have trouble getting it to mount, use a bit of strong tape to secure it firmly to the sled so it doesn't shift when you insert it. I used a one inch strip of duct tape on the back end, did the trick. Lastly, if you're on a Mac, be sure to enable TRIM using the terminal, it's safe and easy and will prolong the life of your drive. I needed this drive to make a backup of my 1TB external Diagnostics drive that I use to do repairs on multiple computers. I have gone with other types of SSDs but when I replace any hard drive, at my business, I only use WD HDD\SSDs. That's why I went with this one. Reliability is an absolute necessity and WD hasn't let me down yet!!!

I can't compare it to other brands since this is the first internal ssd I've owned, but I can tell you it's very easy to install and loading Windows from the old drive was trouble-free. You can expect it to be surprisingly fast on cold boot. The rest of the usage is more precise and quick than the old drive, but not as dramatic as the boot. Used to take 4 or 5 minutes, now I flip it on, go to the kitchen and pour a cup of coffee and by the time I'm back it's ready to go!

If you are installing this into an older desktop PC (as I did) be sure to get an adapter/mounting kit. You will need a SATA cable (not included with this SSD), which comes with most kits, like the "Kingston 2.5 Inch HDD/SSD Mounting Kit For 3.5" Drive Bay or Enclosure" for around $7 on ebay. It comes with everything you'll need. As for this product itself, it works great. No issues whatsoever. Makes my old PC so much faster. Fantastic upgrade from what I had before. Shipped very quickly. I'm happy with it.

This SSD was a great price. It's amazing on how much faster an SSD is than a regular Hard Drive. No kidding my computer boots up in less than 15 seconds. I have used may Western Digital drives before and this SSD hasn't let me down.

This sped up my old computer to feel almost new again. This was my first experience with and SSD drive and I can safely say, it will be the only way I'm buying harddrives from now on. Drive shipped faster than I expected.

An SSD will make your HDD obsolete. You will never go back. If you're getting lots of pinwheels (wait-notices on your computer to do something) your hard drive is probably failing. Get an SSD. My old 2008 Mac Pro is now a screaming machine.
