  • Darkly fascinating

Very different from the old film noir version starring Joan Crawford, this mini-series lifts the paving of 1930s America, giving a view of the creatures crawling beneath its surface. I watched Woody Allen's 'Cafe Society' straight afterwards as a kind of antidote and it really lifted my mood.
