JBL is legendary for a reason

I am a JBL fanboy, I’ve used JBL SRX’s when I played live, I upgraded my cars stereo to all JBL speakers. And I’ve had JBL home stereo stuff in the past… with that being in mind, here’s my review. Powerful subwoofer I’ve got it set to about 1/2 volume. It’s being used in conjunction with a pair of Adam audio tv5’s in my home studio This thing will slam you chest or rumble. It is an amazing sub. I record mostly classic rock style music so I wanted this to add some bottom end roundness so I have the crossover set at 80Hz. But I can definitely see how the XLF feature would be useful in EDM/Hip hop styles as it changes to curve and creates a “Sub-Subwoofer effect” Great tool I just don’t use it for my style is all Looks great sounds great The negatives, it’s a big box so your going to need room for it to fit in your room. And don’t sit too close to it or you won’t hear it at all but everyone else in the house will. I wish it had a remote mute switch/ volume control Other than that I plan to get years worth of service out of this piece.

Beware you may end up with a very large paperweight that doesn’t even turn on

Dead on arrival. I should have read more reviews before purchasing. I have the JBL near field monitor speakers in the same series as this subwoofer and they work great. After plugging everything in and powering on the sub, it wouldn’t even turn on (LED on the front wouldn’t even turn on). I promptly returned it and bought a KRK 10s sub instead, which I’ve had no problems with.

  • Seamless good sound

Integrates seamlessly with my LSR 305 speakers. I bought this for $295 from eStudioStar. Use it obviously to boost low end. It integrates very well, I don't turn it up very loud at all and generally you would not know it's there. Goes pretty low from what I can tell, but I don't play Dubstep etc on it. Very good value IMO. Compliments the LSR line well.

  • It's a monster

Shipped quickly and arrived in good shape. The Pro audio setup makes it versatile. The only downside is, for a 10" subwoofer, it's HUGE. It's as big as an end table.

  • Jbl lsr310s is fantastic!

I paired this with the lsr305 monitors, which already sounded amazing. This adds the weight and bass extension that was needed to hear frequencies small monitors can't reproduce. No more trying to control the low end by looking at the spectrum analyzer. I can finally hear what my mix is going to sound like on larger systems. As a bonus it adds a whole new dimension when listening to my favorite tracks. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this sub to anyone looking for accurate bass reproduction. It knocks when the song has it, but isn't over emphasized. The low end is smooth, clean and clear and sounds like part of the whole rather than a separate addition, which is exactly what you want from a studio sub.

  • Great studio sub bass for the price

I really enjoy the extra kick this JBL sub-bass added to my home recording studio....it is loud when you expect it to be on freqs below 80Hz......and smooth and somewhat transparent above 80hz...just like you want it when you have mains with 8" bass drivers handling mids and high end bass cleanly....overall a safe and good buy.

  • Very good sound, practical. Good value at the price.

Connected to JBL 305P monitors. Contains crossover, subwoofer, and sub poweramp in one package. No fiddling to match sub and monitor levels. Accepts pro balanced input. Sounds very good, more than adequate power in my 320 sq ft room. Looks nice, but it's under my desk so that isn't important. i'd like more low end extension, but that's hard to get in a small package. It won't do a 16Hz pipe organ fundamental, but will do 32hz low B on a five string bass. I was going to build my own sub, but the price for driver, amp, and crossover was near the price of this self contained unit and i didn't have spend the time building.

  • Yes

The sound is crisp and clear. It doesn't boom and thump. It's especially awesome if your music has a lot of lows. It's subtle but packs a punch. If you have the 305's it's the perfect compliment

  • This aint it.

this speaker isn't working and I'm not sure as to why, as I have plugged in the power cable and turned the monitor on, nothing is happening, the light isn't showing up, nor is there any playback of sound. Its a cardboard box at this point. Bout to return this sub so fast you wouldn't believe I even bought it.

  • Nice bangin little Sub

I don't use the club mode because it sounds better if you drive it harder in the mode that crosses over at 80 Hz. Don't crossover too high or you'll get mud from it. Cross it over 80 Hz and then crash your top foreign speakers over at 100 Hz
