The right filters if nothing else works.
These polycontrast filters are good when you either don't have a filter compartment on your enlarger or the filters are hard to get. These filters come with a holder that affixes to the enlarger lens. So they mount below the lens. They do NOT fit in a Beseler 45 where there is a filter slide just above the lens (that is what I was hoping). But they will work for me. Because they are below the negative make sure you get a new or almost new set so that they are optically in good shape.
