About this product

Product Information

Sega's acclaimed ninja-fighting franchise makes its 32-bit debut with digitized characters and full-motion video cut-scenes. The lead protagonist is Sho, who embarks on an honorable quest to stop his evil brother Kazuma and his insatiable thirst for power. Players will guide Sho across nine side-scrolling stages with locales ranging from a village and mountain pass to a jungle and laboratory. Each area is filled with patrolling ninjas, wildlife, and more exotic creatures that must be defeated using various slash moves from Sho's sharply honed katana or with his arsenal of throwing stars. The Ninjitsu magic from previous Shinobi games has been replaced with a new power-up system that grants Sho additional attack abilities. Players can also collect a number of soul orbs on each level, granting Sho an extra life when all are retrieved.

      Shinobi legions

The games not terrible, not great either. I thought the controls weren't to bad, corny cut scenes, basically playing a bad kung fu flick from the 80's. But cool to have in the collection.

    • Top critical review

A good Shinobi game that suffers from mediocre level design

Contrary to some of the complaints about this entry in the Shinobi series, I thought the graphics were great. They were digitized well, and really add a level of realism. The gameplay and different attacks available are also very good in this one! IMO, the thing that makes the game suffer is mediocre level design. The stages are pretty straight forward, basic and not very innovative. There is also one stage that takes place completely on mine carts in motion and its all about timing jumps - very annoying to say the least, because you just keep falling. Not a bad entry in the series, but not the best either. Pick up the Japanese version which has better music if you can afford it, otherwise, skip this one. Pros - Good graphics - Good gameplay - Nice arsenal of moves/attacks - Cool full ...

    • A rework on a classic

Shinobi Legions (Shinobi X) is a great version of the classic arcade game that has been reworked for the Sega Saturn. With digitized graphics and good level designs it's a must for any fan of the series. If you've never played Shinobi Legions and you own a Saturn this will be one of the games you will want to buy as it's one of the great platformers on the system.

    • Don't see the hate, Good game.

Some people give this game a lot of hate, for one that the games music was not composed by Yuzo Koshiro and that its rendered graphics like Mortal Kombat, but at it's core it's still fills and plays like Shinobi which is all that matters to me. This to me is the last great Shinobi games not that abomination that's on PS2.
